Explore Life. On higher Ground. BRABUS XL 800.
There are off-roaders. There are supercars. And then, there’s the BRABUS XL 800—a Masterpiece created to bridge the gap between the two worlds with engineering superlatives that know no limits. Based on the W 465 series Mercedes-AMG G 63, the ultra-luxury Geländewagen towers over any terrain with a ground clearance of 47 centimeters (18.5 in) thanks to its specially designed BRABUS suspension system featuring portal axles. Boasting 800 twin-turbocharged V8 horsepower, it claims both uncharted territory beyond the edges of the map and the world’s most extravagant boulevards as its own. Every detail—from the exposed-carbon WIDESTAR bodywork to the hand-stitched slate gray BRABUS Masterpiece interior—exudes absolute, unfiltered confidence.
Explore life. On higher ground. This is the BRABUS XL 800.
Design & Exterior. Adventure Aesthetics.
Visually, the BRABUS XL 800 impresses with its BRABUS WIDESTAR exterior concept featuring characteristically wide fender flares in the front and rear, made entirely from exposed-structure carbon fiber. The BRABUS front fascia is produced from the same high-grade composite material. It seamlessly joins the BRABUS fenders and integrates the winch with a line pull of 4,500 kg (9,921 lbs.) optimally into the front view. The robust BRABUS front guard is also part of the broad ADVENTURE range, designed to take the supercar’s off-road capabilities to the highest level.
The distinctive BRABUS face is further characterized by the exposed-structure carbon surround for the radiator grille and the BRABUS power dome hood. The exposed-structure carbon wind deflector above the windshield is yet another visual statement. Its integral, particularly powerful LED lights help the driver to optimally see the terrain and any appearing obstacles in the dark.
In addition, the BRABUS Carbon Package includes exposed-structure carbon attachments behind the front and rear wheel arches, trim lines and side mirror covers on both sides of the vehicle. To be able to get in and out of the off-road supercar safely, the XL 800 features special power-retractable BRABUS steps. The special BRABUS “Easy Entry” hinges are a further convenience feature. They allow the rear doors to swing open to up to 90 degrees and thus make getting in and out more comfortable for the rear passengers.
The thrilling BRABUS 1-Second-Wow effect of the rear view comes courtesy of a special carbon fascia and a carbon trim panel for the rear-end door, which sports a recessed BRABUS logotype. The BRABUS roof wing adds a final, exclusive visual highlight.
Power & Sound. CAPTIVATE.
The BRABUS XL 800 captivates thanks to its extravagant appearance. But that is far from all: it also defies the ordinary with its extremely powerful engine. The BRABUS 800 four-liter, twin-turbo eight-cylinder produces 588 kW / 800 hp (788 bhp) at 6,600 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), which is readily available at 3,600 rpm.
This kind of performance is realized courtesy of two high-performance turbochargers with special core assemblies, reinforced axial bearings and larger compressor units. High-tech lubricants from technology partner Motul ensure optimal lubrication of all powertrain components. In perfect interplay with the automatic transmission, whose nine gears can also be shifted manually using the ergonomic BRABUS carbon paddle shifters on the steering wheel, the engine pushes the BRABUS XL 800 from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds. The supercar’s top speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h (130 mph).
The two tailpipes of the BRABUS stainless sports exhaust on each side of the vehicle are framed by an exposed-structure carbon surround. It integrates red launch ambience lights, which are activated together with the interior lighting. The key strong point of this exhaust system, however, is active sound management. Depending on the selected drive mode, the V8 either whispers in the subtle “Coming Home” mode or produces an extremely powerful exhaust note in the “Sport” position.
Wheels & Suspension. All-Terrain Superlative.
Maximum off-road capabilities were at the very top of the list of priorities for the BRABUS engineers and designers in the development of the BRABUS XL 800. In order to realize a tremendous ground clearance of 47 centimeters (18.5 in) and equally extremely helpful maximum axle articulation, they developed a special portal axle suspension system.
The front axle uses a completely new independent suspension, which can be identified immediately by its gray color scheme. Its components, such as the completely new integral support and the various suspension links, are produced using state-of-the-art CNC technology. The rear axle retains the rigid axle design. However, it also features numerous redesigned parts for the portal axle configuration, which were milled from high-strength billet aluminum. These include a reinforced axle housing and all suspension links. The new suspension geometry this creates plays a crucial role in the XL 800’s outstanding off-road potential.
A tailor-made variant of the innovative BRABUS Ride Control coilover suspension developed specifically for this heavy-duty off-road chassis offers an adaptable driving experience, no matter how far beyond the beaten path you are likely to find yourself. Its damping rate was optimized to the increased ground clearance offered by the portal axles. It can be controlled from inside the cockpit using the stock suspension adjustment feature of the current Mercedes G-Class. In addition, the titanium-coated BRABUS aluminum suspension is fully height-adjustable.
This special suspension configuration also includes BRABUS Monoblock Z/HD high-end wheels. Defined by a sporty eight-spoke design and a BRABUS typical, all-black finish, these 9.5Jx22 alloys were manufactured using the latest forging as well as CNC-machining technology and are a perfect combination of lightweight construction and strength.
Interior. Power meets Elegance.
The BRABUS XL 800 pictured here features a particularly exclusive Masterpiece interior fashioned from slate gray leather. The elaborate “Double Cube” quilting applied with pinpoint precision on the inner sections of the door panels, the floor mats, the leather center strip in the Dinamica headliner and the center sections of the seats captivates at the very first glance. To ensure optimal climate control of the seats, the seat surfaces that sport this pattern are additionally perforated with meticulous accuracy. The BRABUS logo pattern adds further visual highlights on other interior elements.
Exposed-structure carbon elements on the instrument panel, door panels and center console highlight the high-performance character of this vehicle, as do the aluminum door lock pins and the carbon pedal pads. The scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo, which changes color in sync with the vehicle’s ambient lighting, are also made from this high-tech composite material. Exposed-structure carbon sun visors and the overhead instrument console, which keeps the rear passengers informed about the vehicle speed, time and date, give the BRABUS XL 800 a particularly sporty touch.
